Three individuals lost their lives and two others suffered severe injuries in a two-car accident on Tuesday night in Pickering, Ont.
Ontario Provincial Police reported Wednesday that the head-on crash involving two SUVs took place on Highway 7 at Concession Road 6 around 7 p. m.
An elderly woman, aged 82, who was the only person in the eastbound SUV, was declared dead at the scene. Two passengers from the westbound SUV – a woman aged 63 and another aged 68 – were also pronounced dead, according to police.

In a video shared on social media, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt stated that they are still trying to determine what led to this collision.

“At this time, we do not believe weather or environmental factors or mechanical issues contributed to this crash. There’s no indication of alcohol at this time,” Schmidt said.
Police are urging anyone who might have seen the accident or has dashcam footage of it to reach out to either Toronto or Whitby OPP detachments.
