Walmart’s first Ambient Distribution Centre in Canada aims to enhance service for customers and the surrounding community, driven by advanced technology.

VAUGHAN, ON, Oct. 20, 2025 /CNW/ – Walmart Canada has opened its most cutting-edge distribution centre in Vaughan, Ontario, a major move to improve service for customers and the local area. Spanning 550,000 square feet, this is the retailer’s first Ambient Distribution Centre (ADC) in Canada and utilizes innovative automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence to efficiently deliver products to families across Ontario.

“The Vaughan ADC stands for more than just a new building – it’s a strong investment in our staff, our shoppers, and the future of retailing in Canada,” said Venessa Yates, President and CEO of Walmart Canada. “When we merge state-of-the-art technology with the enthusiasm and skills of our teams, we’re not only enhancing product movement but also creating fresh opportunities and supporting local communities while delivering meaningful results for Canadians. This is merely the start of what we can achieve as we keep growing and investing in Canada.”

Walmart Canada’s new Vaughan ADC focuses on both customer and associate experience. It helps products move faster while keeping safety as a priority. By using advanced AI-driven warehouse management systems alongside autonomous forklifts and automated storage solutions, this high-tech facility allows Walmart Canada to ship up to 70 million cases each year.

“This high-tech facility is our most advanced one yet in Canada; it’s transformative for both our associates and customers,” said Matt Kelly, Vice President of Supply Chain at Walmart Canada. “We’re modernizing our supply chain backed by the historic $6.5 billion investment announced earlier this year. Walmart Canada is building a supply chain that sets new benchmarks for efficiency, innovation , and customer satisfaction as we expand as a people-centered company powered by technology.”

Facts about the new Vaughan Ambient Distribution Centre

Employs over 200 associates who will benefit from skill development opportunities within high-tech logistics positions.

Currently supports 131 stores along with two fulfillment centres across Ontario , making it the highest-volume site within Walmart Canada’s leading supply chain network.

550,000 sq. ft., standing at 94 ft tall , designed vertically to optimize space usage while improving operational efficiency without expanding overall footprint.
