A long-awaited, huge grocery store is set to open in Mississauga this week, featuring a vast variety of international foods, specialty items, and an impressively long candy aisle.
Food World Plus will officially welcome customers on Friday, Oct. 30, at its new location in the former Highland Farms spot at 50 Matheson Blvd. E. Covering an impressive 176,000 square feet with around 1,100 parking spaces, it’s being promoted as the largest grocery store in Ontario.
To put that into perspective, a standard Costco warehouse in Ontario typically measures about 146,000 to 150,000 square feet.
This multicultural grocery store aims to bring together products and hard-to-find ingredients from across the globe. You’ll find offerings from Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, East Asia, and South Asia all under one roof.
<p Expect a dedicated halal meat section along with eggless cakes, fresh sushi options, hot meals ready to go, wine and beer selections, gluten-free products, fresh juice choices, and even a live pasta station where you can watch fresh pasta being made right before your eyes.
One of the most striking aspects of this store is its enormous candy and chocolate aisle stretching for 1,000 feet-definitely a tempting spot if you’re like me and have a serious sweet tooth!
The venture is supported by JDass Corp., a Canadian investment and operations firm focused on catering to Mississauga’s diverse communities.
Food World Plus will be open starting Oct. 30 with regular hours from 7 a. m. to 10 p. m. Monday through Friday; Saturdays from 7 a. m. to 9 p. m.; and Sundays from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m.
