Organization added new vehicle after receiving $52,000 from Ontario Trillium Foundation

NEWS RELEASE
COMMUNITY REACH NORTH SIMCOE

On Friday, MPP Jill Dunlop visited Community Reach North Simcoe to check out the outcome of the group’s $52,000 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Awarded in 2025, this grant allowed the organization to purchase a passenger minivan earlier this year. It is now providing additional rides for local seniors, helping residents stay connected with their communities and access essential services.

“This provincial OTF investment in Community Reach will make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors throughout Midland and the surrounding communities,” said the Hon. Jill Dunlop, MPP for Simcoe North. “By adding a new minivan to its fleet, Community Reach will be able to expand its transportation services, provide more rides, and help ensure seniors can get to medical appointments, access essential services and remain active in their communities. Reliable transportation is especially important for older adults, helping reduce isolation, maintain independence, and improve their overall quality of life. I am pleased to see this funding support the dedicated team at Community Reach and the important work they do every day to keep our seniors connected.”

Community Reach North Simcoe bought a 2026 Toyota Sienna Hybrid van, strengthening its commitment to providing safe, reliable and accessible transportation for residents throughout North Simcoe.

“This investment goes beyond purchasing a vehicle”, said Cindy Hastings, Chair of the Board of Directors at Community Reach North Simcoe. “It represents an investment in community connection, independence, inclusion, and quality of life. Reliable transportation helps seniors, people living with disabilities, individuals facing mobility challenges, and residents without access to a vehicle get to essential medical appointments, grocery stores, social activities and other important destinations.”

Community Reach North Simcoe is committed to enabling all residents of North Simcoe to access affordable and accessible transportation.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. In 2025-26, OTF invested nearly $107M into 746 community projects. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect , and create a more sustainable environment.
