The Peterborough Public Library is giving kids a fun new way to explore its books, programs, and services.
In honor of Ontario Public Library Week, taking place from October 19 to 25, the library is rolling out a series of collectible trading cards aimed at encouraging children to discover all that their local library has to offer.
The first set features unique illustrations by artist Brooklin Stormie, showcasing the people, places, and experiences that make the Peterborough Public Library special.
Starting this week, kids can stop by either the Main Library or the Miskin Law Community Centre Branch to grab a free starter pack.
Each pack comes with three trading cards: two common ones and one surprise rare or ultra-rare card.
Younger collectors will also get a brochure to help keep track of their collections.
This initiative goes beyond just handing out cards.
Kids can earn more cards by exploring the library, joining activities, and discovering new services and experiences.
They can also trade cards with other young collectors to complete their sets.
Those who join in will have a chance to win a special prize, although details about the prize haven’t been shared yet.
While this promotion kicks off during Ontario Public Library Week, the trading cards will be available throughout the fall at both locations of the Peterborough Public Library.
There are also plans for special releases of rare cards, providing collectors more chances to find those elusive pieces and expand their collections.
The library hopes this initiative encourages kids to engage with their community library in an enjoyable and interactive way while uncovering resources they might not have known about before.
Families can find out more by visiting either branch during Ontario Public Library Week.
