After a summer full of community activities, the City of Kitchener is excited to announce “Culture Days,” a time to celebrate local art, creativity, and heritage.
According to Kitchener’s news release, Culture Days represent an essential celebration of creativity and connection within the community.
Residents who want to participate in city-hosted events can look forward to a range of free activities, performances, workshops, and tours. The “Culture Days” event isn’t just in Kitchener; it will take place across all of Ontario from Sept. 18 to Oct. 4.
As part of this celebration, Kitchener has revealed plans for a “kick-off weekend” happening from Sept. 25 to Sept. 27.
What you can expect
On Friday, Sept. 25, Kitchener will launch a busy weekend with some exciting activities including:
Culture Days Kick-Off concert featuring Amanda & James and Christ Clark at Carl Zehr Square from 7 p. m. to 10 p. m. Berlin Tower ARTSPACE exhibition opening and artist talk with Carol Spooner at Kitchener City Hall Rotunda Gallery from 6 p. m. to 7 p. m.
The fun continues on Saturday with even more events planned in the region:
Beatlesfest: tribute to the Beatles’ rooftop concert – at Yeti Cafe from 12 p. m. to 2 p. m. Grand River Opera at Kitchener City Hall Rotunda from 12 p. m. to 2 p. m. Fun and Games in Old Kitchener Walking Tour starting at Victoria Park Pavilion from 1 p. m. to 2:30 p. m. KWSA Gaukel Block Arts Festival on Gaukel Block from 1 p. m. to 5 p. m.
Finally, Sunday brings even more shows and events for everyone:
Kitchener Mural Walking Tour – meeting at the parkette on the corner of Charles Street East and Queen Street South from 11 a. m. to 12:30 p. m. KW Symphony Quintet performing at Kitchener City Hall Rotunda from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. 44 Gaukel Open House featuring live mural painting as well as self-guided and guided studio tours from 1 p. m. to 5 p. m.
For residents interested in joining in on the Culture Days experience, there’s more than just a weekend packed with fun! Other local organizations and artists are planning their own events as October approaches.
