GUELPH – Police are reaching out to the community for assistance in identifying individuals featured in videos from a wild homecoming event near the University of Guelph. Investigators claim the gathering resulted in vandalism and posed risks to others.

Guelph police have shared images of seven individuals who were captured in social media clips showing the chaotic scene last Saturday.

Authorities noted that this unsanctioned gathering was “significantly larger” than comparable events held in recent years, with officers responding to reports of items being thrown, people climbing buildings, as well as incidents of shoplifting and vandalism at local businesses.

The University of Guelph expressed its “deep disappointment” regarding the situation and committed to preventing similar occurrences moving forward.

Police continue to analyze video footage and other evidence to pinpoint those responsible, intending to file additional charges if necessary after charging several individuals with criminal and provincial offenses over the weekend.

They also urge anyone who sustained injuries requiring medical attention or experienced property damage during the street party to come forward.

This report by The Canadian Press was first Sept. 30, 2026.
