Vaughan, ON, Oct. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Vaughan Chamber of Commerce held its annual Infrastructure Summit today, uniting industry experts, government representatives and infrastructure stakeholders to discuss vital issues influencing infrastructure development across Ontario.

A key topic was how Ontario can effectively advance critical infrastructure goals despite economic challenges. The discussions focused on the significance of energy capacity, reliable project delivery, and the transportation systems necessary for ongoing growth and investment.

“As global economic uncertainty persists, Ontario is cutting red tape and eliminating obstacles to attract investments that create jobs and enhance economic stability. By reviewing over 350 economic development permits, we are making it quicker, simpler, and more predictable for businesses to invest, build and expand in Ontario,” said Andrea Khanjin, Minister of Red Tape Reduction. “I appreciate the partnership with the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce and RCCAO in promoting competitiveness and economic progress.”

“Our government is constructing the roads, highways and transit systems that Ontario needs to keep people moving efficiently while addressing gridlock and supporting our expanding communities,” stated Prabmeet Sarkaria, Minister of Transportation. “In collaboration with our industry partners, we’re advancing significant projects like the largest transit expansion in North America which creates well-paying jobs while building a stronger connected Ontario.”

The Summit also reviewed Buy Ontario and Buy Canadian procurement policies focusing on how public purchasing can benefit local businesses while maintaining competition amid cost pressures to ensure infrastructure projects stay on track.

“As Vaughan continues to grow, investment in roads, energy supplies and municipal services must keep up. Uncertainties around tariffs and trade make prompt infrastructure delivery crucial for businesses considering their next steps,” remarked Abdus Samad, Vice President of Government Affairs and Strategic Initiatives at the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce. “More predictable approvals along with coordinated planning can help translate infrastructure promises into homes, services and economic opportunities our communities need.”

“Ontario remains committed to substantial investments in infrastructure but must ensure these funds lead directly into projects being executed efficiently from planning through construction,” mentioned Nadia Todorova, Executive Director of the Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario (RCCAO). “Investment in infrastructure fuels economic growth creates jobs while building essential capabilities for growing communities. Predictable bidding processes along with effective procurement strategies give industry the confidence needed to plan ahead delivering lasting value for Ontarians.”

RCCAO was pleased once again to partner with the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce for this important event.

Summit participants as well as representatives from Vaughan Chamber sponsors are available for interviews upon request.
