Two suspects from Ontario are facing charges after a break-in at a metalworking shop north of Brampton, which was followed by a police chase during a checkpoint.
The OPP reports that the break-in took place on February 21 at Shelburne Iron and Metal in Melancthon, located about 70 kilometers north of Brampton. Authorities say several items were taken during the incident.
On February 27, police from Dufferin OPP spotted a vehicle they believed was linked to the case. The vehicle had previously evaded a R. I. D. E. checkpoint in Shelburne earlier that same morning.
Officers managed to identify two individuals suspected of being involved in the break-in. Michelle Minialoff, 58, from Shelburne, was arrested in March and charged with possessing stolen property.
Jakob Hackson, 39, from Algonquin Highlands, was apprehended on Tuesday and faces multiple charges including break and enter, fleeing from police, two counts of possessing property obtained by crime, and theft under $5,000.
Investigators recovered footwear and clothing thought to have been used during the break-in along with a box containing stolen parts, copper wire, and a chainsaw.
