Region of Peel – Detectives from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have increased the charges against a woman related to a stabbing in Mississauga.
On Sunday, Sept. 6, at around 5:30 p. m., officers responded to reports of a stabbing near Dixie Road and Dundas Street East. When they arrived, they found an adult male with a serious stab wound. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The next day, 42-year-old Lorena Sanchez from Mississauga was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder. She was held in custody while waiting for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
On Sept. 10, the victim passed away due to his injuries, prompting the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau to take over this investigation.
On Sept. 18, Sanchez appeared in court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton where her charges were elevated to Second Degree Murder.
