Orillia OPP have made arrests after looking into theft incidents at five hospitals across the region and the GTA, and they’re reaching out to the community in case there are more victims.
The OPP reported thefts occurred at:
Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital between April 2025 – March 2026 Headwaters Health Care Centre between August 2026 – September 2026 in Orangeville. Trillium Health Partners between August 2025 – July 2026 at Mississauga Hospital St. Joseph’s Health Centre between July 2024 – January 2025 in Toronto. and West Park Health Care Centre between February 2024 – April 2024 in Toronto. The inquiry started following several complaints about theft and fraud from both patients and staff within these hospitals.
Numerous search warrants were executed, leading to a substantial recovery of items.
As a result of this investigation, a woman aged 34 from Burlington is facing several charges, including 34 counts of fraud under $5000, 13 counts of theft under $5000, seven counts of disobeying a court order, four counts of Criminal Breach of Trust, two counts of fraud over $5000, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, theft over $5000 and personation with intent.
OPP are urging anyone who visited the hospitals during these times and may have noticed unauthorized transactions to get in touch with them.
