Windsor police report that a traffic stop over the weekend resulted in the seizure of a BB gun and bear spray.
Officers responded to a call about someone with a weapon near Wyandotte Street West and Bruce Avenue around 3:30 a. m. on Sunday.
The suspect vehicle, identified as a Dodge Caravan, was pulled over shortly after on Bruce near Caroline Street.
Seven individuals inside the minivan were taken into custody. An eighth person attempted to flee but was apprehended soon after by Windsor Police K9 Officer Timber, sustaining minor injuries.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a BB gun along with several cans of bear spray.
Three men, aged 18, 19, and 21, face charges for possession of a dangerous weapon. The two younger men were additionally charged with disguising themselves to commit an offence.
Five youths between the ages of 15 and 17 have also been charged with failing to comply with their youth sentence. Two of these youths are charged with wearing disguises to commit an offence as well.
The identities of the youths remain protected under the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The charges have yet to be proven in court.
