The Sudbury Wolves have traded for Tanner Adams from the Brampton Steelheads in a major Ontario Hockey League deal that involves 15 draft picks.
Adams, a 16-year-old forward from Porcupine, Ontario, was picked third overall by Brampton in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection after an impressive season with The Hill Academy U16 AAA team.
He had expressed his desire to play for Sudbury rather than Brampton both before and after the draft.
The Steelheads chose him anyway, just two spots ahead of where the Wolves selected Kash Kwajah.
Sudbury’s general manager Rob Papineau secured Adams’ rights on Friday by sending Brampton a total of 15 draft picks covering the years from 2027 to 2030.
This deal includes four second-round picks, three third-round selections, and eight other picks spanning the fourth, fifth, sixth, and tenth rounds.
Brampton is also set to receive the fifth-overall pick in the upcoming 2027 OHL Priority Selection along with another late second-round selection as compensation.
Adams is expected to arrive in Sudbury next week.
