The Toronto Blue Jays are set to begin a weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.
Currently, Toronto holds a record of 73-74 and is just one game behind the Cleveland Guardians for the last Wild Card position in the American League.
They may be getting some help soon with only 15 regular-season games left.
One player on the injured list is second-year right-hander Trey Yesavage, who had surgery for a torn meniscus at the start of August.
On Friday, there was an important update regarding his recovery.
As reported by Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet, Blue Jays manager John Schneider stated that Yesavage had a solid bullpen session on Thursday, throwing 30 pitches to live hitters over two innings. He reached speeds of up to 93 mph.
He’s scheduled to fly to Toronto and will have another bullpen session on Sunday before starting a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo next week. The aim is for him to pitch 40-50 pitches in game action, potentially allowing him to return to the majors afterward.

Yesavage’s Performance This Season With Blue Jays
This season, in his 18 starts with Toronto, Yesavage has achieved a record of 5-5 and boasts a 3.76 ERA across 93.2 innings pitched. His WHIP stands at 1.14, along with 91 strikeouts recorded. If he can come back possibly by the end of next week, he would provide the Blue Jays with a much-needed arm for their final stretch of 5-10 games in the regular season, even if he can’t jump straight back into starting rotation duties. Toronto could utilize him as a relief pitcher as they aim for postseason contention. Like HEAVY’s content? Be sure to follow us.
