Small businesses located in rural Ontario might qualify for funding aimed at boosting their operations and encouraging local economic development.
The Business Development Stream of the Rural Ontario Development Program offers cost-share funding for initiatives that enhance competitiveness, build business capacity, draw in investment, and create or maintain jobs.
Eligible businesses can receive funding covering 35 percent of project costs, up to a maximum of $10,000.
To be eligible, businesses need to have between one and 20 employees, must be operating at the time of application, and pay agricultural, commercial or industrial property taxes directly or through rent or a lease.
The application deadline is October 1st, 2026; however, businesses are encouraged to apply sooner. Funding will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
