A selection of Chinese restaurants in Ontario – with nine located in Toronto – have recently been recognized as some of the best across Canada.
Claiming that Ontario boasts excellent Chinese restaurants is as obvious as stating the sky is blue: it’s such a well-known fact that it hardly needs mentioning. Still, it feels great to receive official acknowledgment for this reality.
This acknowledgment came on Tuesday, Sept. 8, when the 2026 Chinese Restaurant Awards (CRA) revealed their 50 finalists for the annual Elite 30 Canada Awards, which honors the finest Chinese and Taiwanese dining experiences in the nation.
It’s no shock that Ontario’s Chinese establishments made a strong showing, landing 18 spots on the list of 50. Not surprisingly, British Columbia topped the list with a total of 31 honorees.
Nevertheless, there’s plenty for Ontario’s food scene to celebrate. New entries included Toronto’s Belle Isle and Sunnys Chinese, along with Richmond Hill’s Northern Dumpling Kitchen and Ottawa’s Bite & Bite Shanghai Fried Bun. Long-standing favorites like a Kin and Fishman Lobster Clubhouse also continued to shine.
The real moment of truth will arrive on Sept. 23 during a special ceremony in Vancouver when they announce the Elite 30 winners. Until then, here’s a rundown of all the Ontario restaurants recognized among Canada’s top 50 Chinese dining spots.
