A 23-year-old man lost his life at a workplace in south Ottawa on Wednesday afternoon after becoming trapped under heavy machinery, as reported by Ottawa police.
Emergency responders arrived at Barnsdale Road near Highway 416 around 12:30 p. m., according to a news release from the police.
The man was declared dead at the scene, stated Marc-Antoine Deschamps, a spokesperson for the Ottawa Paramedic Service. He mentioned that a truck bin was involved in the incident.
The names of the victim and the workplace have not been disclosed.
Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development informed that it is looking into the matter but did not provide additional details.
Ottawa police indicated they are assisting with that investigation.
