A young man from Kitchener has been charged following a lengthy investigation into a home invasion in Burlington that occurred earlier this year.
On Friday, the Halton Regional Police Service revealed the arrest of 18-year-old Manav Kotak, who they suspect is one of four individuals involved in breaking into a residence in the southwest Aldershot area during the early hours of April 26.
According to police reports, the masked intruders smashed a first-floor window to get inside while the homeowners were asleep in their beds.
The residents were startled awake by the sound of glass shattering and later encountered the suspects, who were armed with a gun and a knife.
Authorities state that the suspects demanded valuables, leading the residents to surrender several pieces of jewelry.
The suspects then fled in a stolen vehicle, as per investigators’ accounts.
Kotak was arrested on June 25 and has been charged with three offenses, including armed robbery, pointing a firearm, and disguise with intent.
Officials report that three other suspects remain at large and that an investigation is still ongoing.
