Officers from the Peterborough County Detachment – Major Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have pressed charges related to online luring involving a minor.
On Saturday, August 1, 2026, a worried parent reached out to the Peterborough County OPP after discovering sexually explicit images of an adult male on their 12-year-old child’s tablet. The parent also mentioned finding conversations on social media platforms that they didn’t know their child had access to.
The investigation was initiated by the Peterborough County OPP Major Crime Unit (MCU), leading to an arrest. On Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Peterborough County OPP MCU, alongside the Offender Management Unit and the City of Kawartha Lakes MCU, executed a Search Warrant at a home in Peterborough where the suspect was found and arrested.
Aaron PAULSON (age 33) from Peterborough, ON., was taken into custody and charged with;
• Making sexually explicit material available to someone under 18 years old
• Possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
• Accessing any child sexual abuse and exploitation material
• Creating, printing, publishing or possessing any child sexual abuse and exploitation material for publication
• Luring a person under 18 years old through telecommunication
The suspect was held for Bail pending an appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
