Ontario’s Ministry of Education has given the green light for over $6.1 million in funding for an expansion at St. John Fisher Catholic School in Forest.
The initiative includes adding six new classrooms, renovating two existing ones to enhance child care services, upgrading a kindergarten classroom, and building a new parking lot with 13 spaces.
John Van Heck, Chair of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, mentioned that this project will boost the school’s capacity by 92 students and create 18 additional child care spots.
“St. Clair Catholic is very grateful for the ministry’s support of this project,” said Van Heck. “This funding announcement will be enthusiastically received by the Catholic community of Forest; and the project, once completed, will greatly improve the educational experience for our students at St. John Fisher.”
This project is part of a larger $1.6 billion investment by the Ontario government aimed at providing modern classrooms for students.
“Our government is focused on supporting students, teachers and parents while ensuring school boards are equipping our students with the tools they need to succeed,” said Minister of Education Paul Calandra, “Once completed, this project will offer an inspiring learning environment that helps students prepare for rewarding, in-demand careers.”
Board CEO Lisa Demers welcomed this positive development.
“This is fantastic news for the students, staff and families at St. John Fisher Catholic School,” said Demers. “I would also like to thank CFO/COO and Treasurer Amy Park and her team for their great work in preparing a successful application for this important project.”
