Caledon and Vaughan were two of the communities most affected in Ontario when thunderstorms rolled through on Wednesday, with both areas receiving over 130 millimetres of rain.
Recent data from Environment Canada highlights the uneven nature of the rainfall, as several neighborhoods reported more than 80 millimetres.

Caledon topped the charts with a rainfall total of 138.9 millimetres, according to a volunteer observer from Environment Canada.2. Vaughan – 133.0 mm
Vaughan followed closely behind with 133 millimetres recorded. The city also faced challenges similar to those in Toronto, where Environment Canada noted significant flooding after the storms.3. North York – 118.1 mm
North York had a total of 118.1 millimetres, making it the third-highest in the province’s summary. This area also experienced some of the storm’s largest hail, with reports ranging from 2.5 to 6.5 centimetres. Mitchell, located near Kitchener, recorded a total of 107.4 millimetres based on volunteer observations.5. Scarborough – 105.9 mm
In Toronto’s east end, Scarborough rounded out the top five with a measurement of 105.9 millimetres. During one part of the storm, significant flooding was reported on Scarborough Golf Club Road, where construction is currently ongoing.
