Donalda Beatrice Monteiro, loving wife of Mardoqueu (Monty) Monteiro and dear mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on June 14, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 75.
She was born on September 16, 1950, in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, as the oldest of seven children. With a desire to work in healthcare and find new opportunities, Donalda moved to Boston, Massachusetts. There she met her husband Mardoqueu Monteiro and together they built their family. Most of her life was spent in Randolph, Massachusetts. In her later years she lived with her husband at their son Daniel’s home where they enjoyed life and made wonderful memories with his family.
A caring matriarch, Donalda was dedicated to raising her sons David and Daniel Monteiro. She took great joy in being a grandmother to Ella, Brayden, Abigail, and Ivy. Known for her kindness and supportiveness, she was the emotional strength of her family. Professionally she spent over 32 years nursing at Boston Medical Center where she showed compassion and commitment while caring for others. She loved gathering with family, decorating her home, dining out with friends and traveling. Her legacy is one filled with love.
Donalda is survived by her husband Mardoqueu; her two sons David and Daniel; along with their families. Her siblings who live in Massachusetts and Canada also remember her fondly: Elizabeth Hunt, Janice Hunt, Marina Hannah, Scott Black, Martin Black along with their families. She was preceded in death by her brother William (“Bill”) Black as well as her parents Donald and Margaret Black.
The love she shared will always be felt by those who knew her; her memory will be treasured forever. As the poem Footprints in the Sand reminds us,“When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Tufts Medical Center for their exceptional care during this difficult time.
A visitation is scheduled for June 27 ,2026 from 9:00 to 10:00 a. m. at Keohane Funeral Home located at 785 Hancock Street Quincy , Massachusetts.
