OSHAWA, ONT. – The Governments of Canada and Ontario have revealed that they are providing over $41 million in joint funding to back two housing projects in Oshawa.
The site at 1707 Ritson Rd. N. will transform into a 66-unit complex featuring stacked and back-to-back townhouses, with completion expected in December.
This initiative is set to receive more than $7 million from the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative and the Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative, along with a significant investment of $27.5 million through the federal government’s Affordable Housing Fund, according to a recent release.
Conant Place, found at 1050 Simcoe St. S., is an affordable rental building that offers 54 units and was completed in September 2025. This development aims to alleviate the seniors’ rental housing waitlist in Durham Region and includes affordable options for seniors as well as individuals with disabilities. It received support from an investment of over $6.9 million through the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative.
The new residences will be managed by the Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation and will provide a variety of unit sizes at different affordability levels to cater to Oshawa residents’ needs, ultimately delivering a total of 120 units.
