City of York Council announced that their contractor will redo the lines on Markham Crescent, near Haxby Road, as the job “clearly hasn’t been completed to our high standards”.
Locals mentioned that workers fixed a strip of tarmac on Thursday (August 6) and repainted the double yellow lines.
However, they reported that workers returned on Friday and added another set of lines on top.
One resident expressed that the new lines caused “utter confusion” for drivers.

Naj Mahmud, who runs the Park View guest house at the corner of the street, said he was astonished by what happened.
“I have no idea [why they did it],” he stated. “I have nothing to say. They just did it.”
He also mentioned it was “definitely” not done well.
A spokesperson from City of York Council commented: “This work clearly hasn’t been completed to our high standards, something our external contractor accepts.
“It has confirmed the work will be redone by the end of this weekend at the latest, after which it will be inspected by our highways team.”
