A man was injured but his injuries are not life-threatening after being shot at a commercial property in Richmond Hill.
The shooting occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Markham, prompting police to look for a suspect.
It took place near Yonge Street and Bay Thorn Drive, just south of Highway 407 in the Langstaff area.
York Regional Police (YRP) reported that they received a call just before 12:30 p. m. about an adult male victim who had been shot by an unknown male suspect at “a commercial premise.”
The suspect left the scene.
According to police, the victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
There’s no ongoing threat to public safety.
However, authorities are advising people to steer clear of the area.
A significant police presence is expected as the investigation continues, they added.
