With deep sadness, we share the news of Timothy Wayne Goodchild’s passing on July 30, 2026, at the age of 56.
Tim was a loving husband to Jeannie (Nee Baker), a proud father to Lindsey Goodchild (Ashtyn) and Hailey Goodchild (Trevor), and a doting grandfather to his beloved grandson, Otto. He was the cherished son of Marg and the late Jim Goodchild, and a dear brother to Chris Goodchild (Cathy) and Susan Herzog (Thomas). He was also a brother-in-law to Joe Baker (Anne-Marie) and Margaret Mac Dougall (Doug).
Born on February 18, 1970, in Toronto, Ontario, Tim grew up in Orillia where he formed lasting friendships and became well-known in the community. He eventually settled down in East Oro with his wife Jeannie as they raised their daughters together.
As a Project Manager at Al Langman Construction, Tim took great pride in his work and the connections he made throughout his career. He was recognized for his commitment, leadership skills, and ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
It was no secret that you couldn’t walk through town without Tim bumping into someone he knew. His friendly demeanor, genuine interest in others, and knack for conversation made everyone feel like they were friends.
Outside of work, Tim enjoyed doing what he loved most: taking his Corvette for drives, spending time golfing, firing up the grill for barbecues, and above all else-being surrounded by family and friends. He always seized every chance to gather with loved ones for laughter or support.
Tim had an undeniable charm along with a unique sense of humor. He had a way of brightening any room while leaving behind fun memories through his quick wit and playful nature. His daughters proudly carry this same humor-a treasured gift from their father that will keep his spirit alive for years ahead.
The love Tim had for his family was immense. He was fiercely protective, endlessly supportive, and incredibly proud of both Lindsey and Hailey. His unwavering love will continue to comfort them as they strive to make him proud each day. Becoming “Grandpa” to Otto filled him with immeasurable joy-it truly was one of life’s greatest pleasures for him.
Tim’s absence will create a significant gap in the lives of those who knew him well; however, his laughter, kindness, generosity, and devotion to family will forever remain with us.
While Tim achieved many successes throughout his life, he faced challenges with alcohol addiction over several years. Despite all the love surrounding him from family and friends during these struggles-addiction ultimately took its toll on him. The family shares this part of his journey not as a defining feature but as a reminder that addiction can impact anyone-and that no one should face it alone.
The family hopes that sharing Tim’s story may serve as encouragement regarding addiction being an illness rather than something shameful-and help is available.
