No one was hurt when a vehicle caught fire close to downtown London on Sunday morning, according to fire officials.
Just after 9:45 a. m., a driver was traveling on Talbot Street when they “identified a mechanical issue within their car,” said Colin Shewell, a platoon chief with the London fire department.
Shewell mentioned that the driver pulled safely into a parking lot in the 600 block of Talbot Street, roughly 400 metres south of Oxford Street.
Firefighters quickly put out the “fully involved car fire” upon arrival, Shewell noted, adding that neither anyone in the vehicle nor any firefighters were injured and “no damage extended from that vehicle.”
When The Free Press got there around 10:15 a. m., one fire truck was still at the scene and firefighters had already extinguished the flames.
The SUV suffered major fire damage, with its interior burned and wires exposed.
