A 26-year-old man has lost his life after a shooting incident in Brampton, and another man is now in police custody.
The shooting took place on Friday at a residence near Dartford Road and Balmoral Drive, as reported by Const. Tyler Bell-Morena of Peel Regional Police. Officers responded to the location following reports of gunfire shortly after 5:30 p. m.
Upon their arrival, they found a man from Brampton with gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A suspect has been arrested and is believed to be the only individual involved, according to Bell-Morena.
The accused, who is 37 years old, was known to the victim, Cst. Taylor Halfyard mentioned during a news conference on Saturday. He stated that this incident was isolated.
Bell-Morena had also indicated that police thought there might be a connection between the two men.
A call to 911 came from someone inside the home, he added.
Residents in the area should expect an increased police presence throughout Friday night, according to Bell-Morena.
