Whitby, Ontario - Residents should note that their regular waste collection day will be postponed to the next day during the week of July 1 because of the Canada Day holiday.
Where: The Region takes care of curbside waste collection in Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering, Scugog and Uxbridge. Garbage and green bin collection services for Oshawa and Whitby are handled by their local municipalities. Ontario’s recycling program is managed by Circular Materials. When: Waste collection that’s normally on Wednesday, July 1 will now occur the following day. This change will apply throughout the week, with Friday’s collection on July 3 moving to Saturday, July 4.
Why: These adjustments to waste collection are necessary due to the Canada Day holiday on July 1.

Regional Waste Management Facilities
The Region’s Waste Management Facilities located in Brock, Scugog and Oshawa as well as the Household Special Waste Depot in Clarington will be closed on Wednesday, July 1. Normal operating hours will resume on Thursday, July 2.
Regional Waste Management Centre
The Region’s Waste Management Centre at 4600 Garrard Road in Whitby will remain closed until Monday, August 31 while construction is completed on site. Residents can purchase new Green Bins, kitchen containers, backyard composters and bag tags or exchange green bins and kitchen containers online with free home delivery.
