The Fraser Institute has released its yearly rankings for high schools in Ontario, and a school in Whitby has taken the top spot among those in Durham.
This report evaluated 747 public, Catholic, and independent schools using at least six academic indicators based on province-wide test results. The standardized test used in Ontario is the EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office).
G. L. Roberts Collegiate and Vocational Institute (CVI) received the lowest score among all Durham high schools with a rating of 3.8, while Donald A. Wilson Secondary School in Whitby achieved the highest score of 8.4 out of 10, placing it in the Top 50 across Ontario.
The institute also pointed out that a lower score doesn’t mean a school hasn’t made progress over previous years, indicating that all schools can improve no matter their type, location, or student demographics.
