After a brief time leading the Ontario Liberals, Bonnie Crombie is aiming to reclaim her position as mayor of Mississauga, Ont.
Crombie informed her supporters in a message obtained by The Canadian Press that she plans to register as a candidate for mayor on Tuesday.
She will face off against current mayor Carolyn Parrish and other candidates such as city councillors Alvin Tedjo and Dipika Damerla.
Crombie was Mississauga’s mayor for ten years before stepping down halfway through her third term in 2024 to take charge of the Ontario Liberals.
This past January, she resigned from that role after receiving lukewarm support during a vote at the party’s annual general meeting in 2025, following a snap provincial election where Crombie did not win a seat in the legislature.
Crombie entered politics at age 47 after having spent many years in business and has also worked as a Liberal MP and city councillor for Mississauga.
