A 21-year-old man has lost his life following a hit and run incident in Brampton early Saturday morning, according to police.
Officers got a call around 3:47 a. m. regarding a collision between a motorcyclist and the driver of a white SUV at the intersection of Bovaird Drive and Yellow Brick Road, stated Peel police Const. Laurie Mc Cann during a news briefing.
Peel paramedics confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, identified by Mc Cann as the motorcycle rider who was 21 years old.
The SUV driver left before officers arrived but returned later while investigators were on-site, Mc Cann noted.
The driver, a 48-year-old man, was arrested for impaired driving. She mentioned that he could face more charges based on findings from the ongoing investigation.
Currently, it seems both vehicles were moving straight-one heading east and the other south-when they collided in the intersection.
Mc Cann indicated that roads in the area would be closed “for the foreseeable future.” However, an update from Peel police on social media Saturday afternoon stated that all roads have since reopened.
