Elaine passed away at Muskoka Landing in Huntsville, ON, Saturday afternoon; July 4, 2026.
Born in Montreal, she grew up in Erindale, Ontario where she started her teaching career, mainly with grades 3 & 4.
After spending 12 years living and teaching in B. C., she retired in 2001 and moved to Muskoka. It seems that she then found her groove, getting actively involved in Hospice, Probus, The United Church and the Women’s Institute.
She dedicated a significant part of a year working to help rebuild Biloxi Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina.
She quietly excelled at every task she took on.
Elaine leaves behind five children: Matt Leahy (Sabine), Mark Leahy (Janice), Beth Leahy, Holly Mason (Skyler), Michael Mason and twelve grandchildren.
Lastly, she is survived by her husband Derek, who loved her completely as she deserved.
A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity United Church, 290 Muskoka Rd North, Gravenhurst, Ontario, Friday July 17th at 11:00am. A reception will follow.
