A man is in the hospital with serious injuries following a shooting involving an armoured vehicle outside a bank in Waterloo, Ont., according to police.
The incident took place around 2:30 a. m. Wednesday near Fischer-Hallman Road and Erb Street.
Initially, police reported that a 25-year-old man had been shot. However, on Thursday, they confirmed that the injured individual was actually 40 years old. A second victim, aged 25, was unharmed.
Authorities stated both men worked for an armoured vehicle company and were confronted by “multiple unknown individuals” who opened fire on them.
The 40-year-old victim was transported to a hospital outside the region due to his serious injuries.
Waterloo Regional Police Insp. Alison Sproule mentioned that officers believe this was a targeted attack.

“We believe there are at least four suspects,” Sproule noted, adding they haven’t connected it with any other crimes yet.
“We’re appealing to the public. If anyone has information or video evidence, we encourage them to check their cameras and call us directly on our non-emergency line or reach out through Crime Stoppers,” she said.
