A 39-year-old Oshawa man has died after falling off a boat into the Otonabee River near Peterborough, Ont.
Provincial police report that the individual fell into the water Tuesday afternoon following the passage of another boat while he was with three companions on the river; he did not have a life-jacket on at that time.
Authorities indicate that the operator of the boat was arrested once officers determined there had been alcohol consumption in their group; this person was subsequently charged with operation causing death and impaired operation.
The OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located the man’s body on Tuesday evening.
