You really have to see it to believe it! Port Elgin is one of the beautiful lakeside towns in Bruce County that attracts visitors from all over. The scenery is as stunning as it is inviting, and if you’re fortunate enough to stick around until evening, you’ll be treated to one of the most breathtaking sunsets in Ontario.
Port Elgin sits along the lovely shores of Lake Huron.
The town is located between Southampton and Kincardine, and if you’re driving from Toronto, it’ll take just a bit over three hours.
One of the first things you should do when visiting Port Elgin is spend some time by the waterfront.
The Old Shore Road Trail within Macgregor Point Provincial Park offers fantastic lakeside views (especially gorgeous during the fall).
This trail runs along the Lake Huron shoreline and even features viewing platforms where you can pause and enjoy the scenery.
Keep in mind that there’s a daily fee for entering the park to access the trail, starting at $12.25 per vehicle.
I suggest heading over to Port Elgin Main Beach to watch the sunset.
The beach is definitely the town’s biggest attraction, and it’s easy to see why. The sandy shores are perfect for taking a leisurely walk or setting up a blanket/chair for an amazing sunset experience.
Wrap up your day with some food and drinks from The Walker House. It’s just a quick drive away in Southampton but well worth it.
The menu has something for everyone, but my personal favorite is definitely the fish and chips.
<p. Now that you're equipped with tips for enjoying your day in Port Elgin, it's time to start planning your road trip!
