The province is once again providing free fishing for Father’s Day weekend.
Residents can fish without needing to purchase a license or an Outdoors Card. All conservation license catch and size limits, fishing sanctuaries, and other fishing regulations are still in effect.
“Some of the best memories are made out on the water,” said Minister of Natural Resources Mike Harris. “Father’s Day weekend is a great chance to cast a line for the first time, or rediscover the joy of it, while getting out to enjoy Ontario’s beautiful outdoors.”
Free fishing was also available during Mother’s Day weekend. It’s also free during Family Free Fishing Weekend, which runs from February 14 to 16, and Family Free Fishing Week, from June 27 to July 5.
Outside of these free weekends or weeks, Canadian residents aged 18 to 64 need an Outdoors Card and a license to fish. Veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces in Ontario can fish for free at any time.
