The Hanover Police Service has announced that they’ve secured an arrest warrant for a suspected member of an organized theft group.
Police reported that on January 12, a local pharmacy experienced over $3,000 in cosmetic items being stolen. Investigators found that the same individual had taken similar products earlier that day from pharmacies in Mount Forest and Listowel.
In collaboration with various law enforcement partners across Ontario, corporate security teams, and Canada Border Services, the Hanover Police Service has obtained an arrest warrant for a 32-year-old Romanian citizen, who is wanted for theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen goods.
A statement from Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll indicated that through these joint investigations, it was discovered that this organized theft group of professional shoplifters based in the Greater Toronto Area is responsible for nearly $500,000 worth of stolen items from pharmacies throughout Ontario since January 2025.
A second male suspect believed to be connected to the Hanover theft has also been identified and will face similar charges as soon as police pursue an arrest warrant. Authorities mention that the names of these suspects are being kept confidential while investigations continue across Ontario.
Previously, Hanover police have charged individuals thought to be part of this criminal organization for similar shoplifting incidents targeting pharmacies and other large retail stores. Those suspects remain at large and their current locations are unknown.
