An Ottawa woman has lost her life after a head-on crash on Highway 7, just north of Perth on Monday afternoon.

The accident took place at Gardiner Road, located between Perth and Innisville, around 1:45 p. m. Monday, as reported by Ontario Provincial Police in a news release on Tuesday morning.

The 77-year-old driver of an SUV was declared dead at the scene, while the 49-year-old man from Mississippi Mills driving a pickup truck sustained no serious injuries.

Both drivers were the only occupants in their vehicles.

The highway was closed for several hours but has since reopened. The OPP stated that their investigation is ongoing.

This collision occurred approximately 13 kilometers north of downtown Perth, 15 kilometers southwest of downtown Carleton Place, and about 60 kilometers southwest of downtown Ottawa.
