This week, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) shared news about its second quarter payments to local communities, bringing over $500,000 to the area.
The Town of Hanover got a payment of $348,993 for hosting Playtime Casino, while the Municipality of Central Huron received $195,833 for hosting Gateway Casinos. This second quarter payment covers earnings from July 1 to September 30.
To date this fiscal year, Hanover has received a total of $692,110. Central Huron has received $408,337.
According to OLG, these payments are calculated using a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is uniformly applied across all land-based casinos in Ontario based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue at each hosted site.
Since 1994, host communities have gained over $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
