A 27-year-old man from Windsor has died following a collision in Chatham-Kent on Friday, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

Officers were called to respond to reports of a “serious” two-vehicle accident involving a van and a sedan near Highway 40 and Electric Line just after 5 p. m., as stated in an OPP news release.

The driver of the sedan was declared dead at the scene, police confirmed.

Roads have since reopened after being closed for the investigation on Highway 40 between Robin Line and Bush Line, police noted on social media platform X.

Elgin County OPP is collaborating with the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team to look into this incident.

They encourage anyone who may have information or dashcam footage to reach out to investigators or Crime Stoppers.
