A 14-year-old boy was taken to a trauma center in Toronto with serious injuries Wednesday night after being hit by a pickup truck driver in Whitby.
According to a news release, authorities stated that officers were dispatched to the intersection of Garden Street and Manning Road around 9 p. m. following reports of a crash involving a cyclist and a pickup truck.
Police reported that the teen was cycling southbound through the crosswalk when he was struck by a pickup truck making a right turn.
He was then transported to a trauma center in the Toronto area with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The 40-year-old woman behind the wheel of the pickup stayed at the scene, according to officers.
Investigators are urging anyone who has cellphone, dashcam, or surveillance footage, or any information regarding the incident, to reach out to police.
