Police are looking into an incident where a Whitby councillor was reportedly harassed and intimidated by a member of a far-right media group at town hall. This took place late Monday night as the councillors were leaving after a lengthy four-hour meeting. Councillor Victoria Bozinovski said she was approached regarding a motion to ban companies involved in the federal Temporary Foreign Workers Program, which the mayor deemed out of order. Bozinovski referred to the motion introduced by Councillor Chris Leahy as “garbage, zenophobic, and racist.” She mentioned that the encounter on Monday night left her feeling shaken.
