UPDATE: On July 14, police said a 41-year-old Whitby man was arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing.  This is the 10th homicide in Durham Region, police said.

A man has died following a “domestic-related” stabbing at a home in Whitby, Ont., late Wednesday afternoon, according to Durham Regional Police.

Officers arrived at a residence on Regatta Crescent in south Whitby around 3:36 p. m., where they found a man with severe injuries who was then transported to a trauma center in Toronto. He unfortunately passed away shortly after arrival.

Const. George Tudos mentioned that there were others present at the scene. One man, who left the home, is considered a suspect.

He added that police do not think there’s any ongoing threat to public safety right now.

“It’s an isolated incident,” Tudos told .

Tudos noted that forensic officers are on-site gathering evidence and speaking with neighbors and witnesses.

Homicide investigators have been called in, as stated by police, and are currently searching for the suspect.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Homicide investigators have been notified. The suspect remains at large and efforts are ongoing to locate this person https://t. co/FATqf Fz Yo S
