A driver is currently hospitalized with severe injuries after a two-vehicle accident in Whitby.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene on Highway 7 near Highway 412 shortly before 9 a. m. on Monday.
According to provincial police, one vehicle ended up lodged underneath a straight truck.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Highway 7 was closed in both directions at Highway 412, but the westbound lanes were reopened by around 3 p. m. Only one lane heading east has been made available again.
The on-ramp from Highway 7 to southbound Highway 412 remains closed for environmental cleanup efforts.
