A driver was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident on Highway 407 in Whitby on Wednesday.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that the car hit the guardrail and then flipped onto its side at Thickson Road North just after 2:30 p. m.

An ORNGE air ambulance transported the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, to a trauma center in Toronto with injuries described by police as non-life threatening.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed between Thickson and Baldwin Street South but reopened just before 5 p. m.
