A probe into child luring involving girls aged 12 and 13 has resulted in the arrest of a Durham College employee, who now faces ten charges.

In late 2025, detectives from the Internet Child Exploitation Unit started investigating a man accused of attempting to lure two minors through Reddit and Snapchat by sending materials related to sexual abuse and exploitation. The suspect used the usernames Delivery Normal7189 on Reddit and manu041.01 on Snapchat.

In 2026, authorities executed a search warrant at a home in Whitby. They found and seized multiple electronic devices. The suspect was present at the residence and taken into custody.

The individual works at Durham College, and police are concerned there may be more victims.

Manu Sugunakumar, 23, is charged with two counts each of luring a person under 16 for sexual assault facilitation and sexual interference, along with three counts of luring to create sexual abuse or exploitation material. He also faces charges for making sexually explicit material accessible to minors, luring someone under 16 for sexual touching, and publishing intimate images without consent.

He is currently being held pending a bail hearing.

If anyone has information regarding this case, they should reach out to D/Cst. Mc Govern of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5542.

Tips can be submitted anonymously to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www. durhamregionalcrimestoppers. ca; those providing tips may qualify for a cash reward.
