TORONTO – Authorities report that a man from Hamilton, who was wanted for the shooting deaths of two individuals nearly ten years ago, has been apprehended in Mexico.
According to Hamilton police, Daniel Mario Tomassetti is now in custody, and steps are being taken to extradite him back to Canada.
The police had issued nationwide arrest warrants for Tomassetti and Michael Cudmore in 2018, relating to the murders of Angelo Musitano and Mila Barberi as well as the attempted murder of Saverio Serrano the previous year.
Investigators stated that Musitano was shot and killed in his driveway in Hamilton, while Barberi was fatally shot and her boyfriend Serrano was injured by gunfire in a Vaughan parking lot.
They noted that Barberi wasn’t the primary target during the Vaughan shooting.
Tomassetti faces charges including two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and three counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
“At this time, we are not in a position to provide additional details beyond what has already been shared,” Hamilton police mentioned in a statement on Wednesday.
“Further information, including details related to his arrest will be released when it is appropriate to do so.”
In 2020, authorities reported that Cudmore was found deceased inside a vehicle on a roadside in Mexico.
