TORONTO – Authorities report that a man from Hamilton, who has been wanted for the murders of two individuals nearly ten years ago, has been apprehended in Mexico.
According to Hamilton police, Daniel Mario Tomassetti is now in custody and steps are being taken to extradite him back to Canada.
In 2018, police issued arrest warrants across Canada for Tomassetti and Michael Cudmore related to the killings of Angelo Musitano and Mila Barberi as well as the attempted murder of Saverio Serrano the previous year.
At that time, investigators indicated that Musitano was shot dead in his driveway in Hamilton, while Barberi was killed and her boyfriend Serrano suffered injuries from gunfire in a parking lot in Vaughan.
They stated that Barberi wasn’t the target during the shooting incident in Vaughan.
Tomassetti faces two charges of first-degree murder, one charge of attempted murder, and three charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
“At this time, we are not in a position to provide additional details beyond what has already been shared,” Hamilton police said in a statement Wednesday.
“Further information, including details related to his arrest will be released when it is appropriate to do so.”
In 2020, authorities reported that Cudmore was discovered dead inside a vehicle on a roadside in Mexico.
