A man from Vaughan has been charged with first-degree murder following the stabbing death of his wife in North York, according to police.
Officers responded to reports of a person wielding a knife in a residential area near Fairview Mall Drive and Don Mills Road shortly after 2:30 p. m. on Saturday, as stated by Toronto police in a news release on Sunday.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman suffering from stab wounds in a hallway; she was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Thi Nguyen, 29 years old. She marks Toronto’s 21st homicide victim this year.
The suspect left the location before police arrived but has since been apprehended. A 28-year-old man from Vaughan now faces charges of first-degree murder and failing to comply with an undertaking.
<p According to Toronto police media relations officer Viktor Sarudi in an email on Tuesday, the man was married to Nguyen.
He was scheduled for a court appearance Sunday morning, as noted by police.
